Had a discussion with a friend during lunch about C.J. Wilson, and whether or not he has emerged as the Rangers' long term ace.
My answer was a simple no.
Wilson, who has been phenomenal this season, has also been ridden hard this season. He's far surpassed his career innings total, and his K to Walk ratio fairly worrisome.
Plus, Wilson has been far from enamored with Rangers management over the past, from their clashes over his use of social media to some of his more outlandish statements regarding opponents and former teammates.
Plus, Wilson probably isn't going to cut the Rangers any sort of break in terms of a contract extension. He's probably going to want every penny he can get.
So, all in all, I think that Wilson will be shopped this winter, in hopes of obtaining extra prospects, or will be allowed to test free agency next season.
